Council's overarching reasoning for rejecting the rezoning was that they did not feel as though they had adequate knowledge about the proposal or its implications for the city. They asked questions of staff that were already resolved in the report which indicated that council did not take the time to even read the staff report or be informed about the proposal beforehand—this is the same decision they came to last time this proposal was before them as well. What is noteworthy is that they cite a lack of knowledge in order to make an informed decision, but then never bother to actually inform themselves about the proposal when given the opportunity. They refuse to listen to staff and instead fabricate demonstrably untrue statements to justify their ineptitude. |
